Nazarene Compassionate Ministries
"The Church of the Nazarene believes that Jesus commanded his disciples to have a special relationship to the poor of this world. . . Compassion arises out of the good news of Christ. It is something that God awakens and works in our daily lifestyle as we resond to the love and grace we have received in our Lord and as we respond to the need of our neighbors." (NCM website)
Nazarene Compassionate Ministries (NCM) has developed special ministries around Disaster Response, Child Sponsorships, Health Care, HIV/AIDS and other special projects. You can respond by giving and going and living out the truth, "Compassion is a lifestyle."

Locally, SSNaz gives many opportunities to participate in compassionate ministries.
- We currently partner with several local mission outposts to minister to the homeless at Cascades Gateway Park. A hot breakfast and Bible Study is offered through SSNaz on the 4th Sunday of each month from 9:30am to noon. In addition, food items are collected on a weekly basis to supplement Marion/Polk Food Share. For information, contact Dave Nuss.
- A community garden is seasonably available with fresh produce.
- In collaboration with a local school and Hope Station, Christmas & Thanksgiving Baskets, including food and gifts, are distributed to those in need.
- We partner with other local ministries and give to needy children through a giving tree at Christmastime.
- Help and food is offered to the bereaved, the sick and hospitalized of our congregation.
- Prayer is offered up regularly for those who are in need.
"For I was hungry and you gave me food; I was thristy and you gave Me drink; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me." --Matthew 25:35-36
